Sounds in PlanetVirtuel

 

The PlanetVirtuel browser supports a variety of sounds for a variety of purposes. As of version 3.4 you can now enjoy such new additions as teleport sounds, building sounds, and the ability to hear avatars walking.

Telegram Sounds

The following Telegram Sound files are stored in the /default/sounds directory within your PlanetVirtuel program folder:

Telegram sounds can be turned on or off in the General Settings dialog.

Building Sounds

The following Building Sound files are stored in the /default/sounds directory within your PlanetVirtuel program folder:

Sound Effects

Sound effects, which can be played from the Planet's Object Path or a URL, include Wave sounds with a ".wav" extension and MP3 sound files with a ".mp3" extension.

Sound files in the Planet's object path should be stored in the "sounds" subdirectory of the object path, in zip compressed format with a ".zip" file extension.

Sound effects can be turned on or off in the General Settings dialog.

Planetary Sounds

Special sound effects called Planetary Sounds can be set to a selected sound file in the sounds subdirectory of the Planet's object path, or to the URL of a sound file with a ".wav" extension.

Teleporting Sounds

Integrated sound effects for teleporting and warping to a new location are always stored in the sounds subdirectory of the Planet's object path in zip compressed format with a ".zip" extension. The teleport sound is stored in the deport1.wav file, and the warp sound is stored in the warp1.wav file.

MIDI Music

MIDI music files can be played from the "sounds" subdirectory of the object path, in zip compressed format with a ".zip" file extension or from a URL file specification with a ".mid" extension.

MIDI music can be turned on or off in the General Settings dialog.

Legal

Before using any URL for sounds in your build, please make sure that using the specific URL for that purpose is not a violation of any contractual agreement or any law, including copyright laws.
